MICHAEL CINCO

The grand collection of the Filipino designer, Michael Cinco is inspired of the world-famous opera, Madame Butterfly. Clad in chunky glass platforms, the models looked like dolls with their voluminous gowns, mid-length dresses and minis.

Colors used are derived from butterflies and even stained-glass artworks were transferred to these couture pieces.

Japanese influences are also visible in his collection. The kimono-styled bustiers and oriental fans used as head pieces.

Technology incorporated in these Michael Cinco piece. A dress converted into kimono-styled minis.

A model struggling to contain her voluminous ball gown and walks in a straight line caught my attention while being astonished by the whole collection.

"I am proud to be a Filipino. But fashion doesn't discriminate. If you are good, then the world will sit up and take notice. It doesn't matter if you are an Italian, French or a Filipino then."

-Michael Cinco

Michael Cinco once again, gave a wonderful collection that added glamor and art to this season. KUDOS.

this is one of the highlights of the collection...It's a 3-in-1 dress. The idea is really cool. You can separate the pieces to create a new dress.

DUBAI FASHION WEEK AUTUMN/WINTER 2010

DAY 1
April 3, 2010

Front row at DFW A/W 2010 seated beside me is my sister, Mariyah...a great blogger from Dubai.

Being in the front row of a prestigious fashion show is really a great feeling. Not only as a privilege but you would be able to see all the details of the clothes. Thanks to Ate Mariyah for helping me secure my media pass. It was a great experience.

OUTFIT OF THE DAY: Basic white shirt, Black Vest (TRF), White Skinny pants paired with Plain white leather shoes.

MIMI Fashion Designs
by Mariam Al Mazro

The collection is a mixture of both jalabiya and dress, mostly in colorful patched designs with modern cuts. Most fabrics used are chiffon and silk with printed floral patterns. What I love with the collection is the idea of using different kinds of fabric of different patterns and the play of colors. Feminine, flowy kaftans played with polks dots, strips and checkers? LOVELY.

D.A.S Collection
by Reem & Hind Beljafla

Fashionable abayas with a modern twist added a shot of glamour to the conservative abayas. Muted gold, metallic studs and sashes with big bows gave the all-black robes a modern twist. The flattering drapes which clung all to the right places - also drove home the point that less is more.
