DUBAI FASHION WEEK AUTUMN/WINTER 2010

DAY 4
April 6, 2010

MICHAEL CINCO

The grand collection of the Filipino designer, Michael Cinco is inspired of the world-famous opera, Madame Butterfly. Clad in chunky glass platforms, the models looked like dolls with their voluminous gowns, mid-length dresses and minis.

Colors used are derived from butterflies and even stained-glass artworks were transferred to these couture pieces.

Japanese influences are also visible in his collection. The kimono-styled bustiers and oriental fans used as head pieces.

Technology incorporated in these Michael Cinco piece. A dress converted into kimono-styled minis.

A model struggling to contain her voluminous ball gown and walks in a straight line caught my attention while being astonished by the whole collection.

"I am proud to be a Filipino. But fashion doesn't discriminate. If you are good, then the world will sit up and take notice. It doesn't matter if you are an Italian, French or a Filipino then."

-Michael Cinco

Michael Cinco once again, gave a wonderful collection that added glamor and art to this season. KUDOS.
